The Sunflowers to Roses organization was created by a group of professional peers and friends who wanted to honor the memory of Chris Anthony and Jack Lockton – both lost their battles to cancer. During their battle, both men were inspired to Live Strong by Lance Armstrong’s triumph over cancer and his subsequent Tour de France victories. Sunflowers to Roses raises money and awareness to fight cancer and promotes cycling as a safe recreational family activity. 

Objective

To promote awareness of and participation in the Sunflowers to Roses Organization’s events that appeal to a broad spectrum of people, and to raise thousands of dollars in the fight against cancer.

Strategies

• Ensure that a designated percentage of money raised is earmarked for cancer research and for cancer survivors in the Kansas City area 
   
• Develop activities that encourage participation across multiple age and socio-economic groups, and reinforce core values of family, fun and fitness through cycling and other fitness-related activity
